BLOGIVERSARY GIVE-AWAY!!

update--------------AND THE WINNER IS -----PAT--- of A Little of This and A Little of Pat fame. Pat has contributed alot to the quilt blogging world and she has been a loyal fan of mine She is almost always the first to comment on my posts. I really appreciate that and I am proud to call her my blogging friend. CONGRATULATIONS, PAT. Email me your snail mail address and I will order your magazine. God Bless you Pat!

Lulu is happy for Pat too--but mostly she is ready for a nap!

I told LULU my dilema as to what to do for my "Followers" for my Blogiversary. LULU said she really didn't have time to discuss it, but since it was me that she would. After all, I do FEED her! Anyway, she said she would think that anyone would just LOVE one of these gigantic beds like she has and you can see in the background, but if I was not willing to do that then she would go for a magazine subscription. Any girl loves nothing better than to relax with a good zine. So,

HERE IS THE DEAL--for my followers only (but who can stop you from following now!! LOL) Please comment on this post and tell me what you like about my blog (aka why do you follow it--and if you tell me," for a chance to win the magazine subscription"--well--I guess you are an honest person). I want to know what attracts you to my blog.

I will be gone out of town for a few days. When I return I will draw from the commenters and the winner will get a free one year subscription to McCall's Quilting Magazine!

It really is a great magazine. In my opinion, it has improved in the last year. Love the cover this month!! A Mystery quilt starts this month and it shows you blocks made with several different styles of fabrics.

So--let the commenting commence!! Remember I will be out of town until Monday, so don't expect me to reply until then.

Another Embroidery Finish!

A couple of tea towels finished. These are Aunt Martha's and are vintage but are still being sold as "MERRY MAID". These towels were given to me as a gift already stamped as a gift years ago at a quilting retreat. I love them. I have truly enjoyed getting back to hand stitching.
Thanks for looking.

HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY TO MOLLY'S PLACE!

My blogiversary was 3 days ago and I missed it. TWO YEARS of blogging has flown by. I have loved every minute of it. I have learned so much about myself and made so many great friends (over 30,000 visitors). It has crossed my mind the last few weeks, and I have been trying to decide on some way to celebrate and nothing has really hit me as of yet and now the initial time has passed. I do want to tell each of you who visit me regularly and who are my faithful followers (32), I appreciate you so very very much. I have a pattern of the month that I am working on. Needless to say, it is not ready as of yet. I have more vintage embroidery patterns that I can share, or I can do a give-away. I am really leaning more towards something that I can give to EVERYONE. For me to do anything, I must have some comments with preferences voiced. Ok, fans of Molly's Place. Now is the time. I want to see record commenting going on, telling me what you would prefer for your thank you gift. Let me hear from you!!! PLEASE!!!
I LOVE ALL YOU DAULIN BLOGGERS--
IT'S BEEN A RIDE I WILL NEVER FORGET!!!

A CRAZY QUILTING ADVENTURE

I have been so interested in the many aspects of the Vintage Embroidery sites. Floresita has a blog of her own, a Flickr group that has a blog called Feeling Stitchy. There is so much information that I have a hard time getting through it all. I will find a site link and veer off to it and then forget to go back to where I was.

I was looking through the posts on Feeling Stitchy reading about wool and I found a link to a website that sells wool and all aspects of wool embroidery called Vintage Vogue. She carries acrylic felt, wool blends and felted wool. It is all beautiful. She also has a blog called Nostalgic Needle Art. The best I can tell, January, 2008, Janet of California decided to start posting Crazy Quilt Blocks that include a section revealing a vintage postcard. You print off the pattern onto fabric by using a fabric printer sheet or making your own by pressing fabric to freezer paper. You use this as your foundation and fill in the sections around the image with fabrics and then embelish with lace, ribbons, beads, and of coure, beautiful embroidery stitches. Janet sells all of these wonderful things that you need over on her website --Vintage Vogue--.

This is the Easter block that I printed. The little basket you see on the pattern is to show you the placement of a "finding".

Here is the picture of her block. She sells the "findings" you will see on her block (I didn't know what that was either, but it is the jewelry you see on her block) and also tells you how to give brass an antique look so you can use items you have on your blocks. She gives you a tutorial in case you need a little help getting started. Then each month a new block with an appropriate postcard center.

This is the Easter block that I printed off. The small basket you see printed on the pattern shows the placement of a finding.

I have had in mind to make a crazy quilt block for practising my embroidery stitches. This is perfect. Thanks to Janet over at Vintage Vogue.

CADEN SPENDS THE NIGHT!

Spring BreaK means Caden is visiting. He has had a problem spending the night with Nana and Pops, but he made up his mind to do it this past weekend and now he is on a roll. He stayed three nights and 4 days with us. Of course he had to sleep with Nana and Pops had to sleep in the back room. We have really had a good time.

Tub pics are the one time when he is clean!! We worked in the yard, cleaning and planting. We found Rollie Pollie bugs and spider sacs and played in the sand box (I didn't take enough pics). I cooked his favorite breakfast each morning: egg, bacon, and toast. We played Guitar Hero and he found out that Nana ain't bad!! We played football (I hate this one, but I suffer through it) and rode on the Mule (ATV). Of course we visited my mother and Caden loves to eat supper with her and give her the medications.
I will have Cullen tomorrow and Mom and Dad will take Caden to Waco to Chuck E Cheese and Putt Putt Golf. I hope the "little one" and I have a good day. What are you doing tomorrow. I might give you a call! LOL

BUNNY HILL BLOCK OF THE MONTH, FOR MARCH

I finished my March Bunny Hill Block of the Month. I purposely did not look at other blocks so that I would not be influen ced. Was that smart?-------????

As previously blogged, here is my block before it was stitched.
Here is it after stitching. I am having such a great time with this BOM. Seems that after I start, I cannot find enough time to stitch!! I don't think you can tell, but the bitty piece of wool roving (I think that is the right term) that I used for the tail is what I retrieved from my dryer lint trap. I rolled it in my hand into a ball and stitched it down with the buttonhole stitch and WaLaaaaa-----BUNNY TAIL--fuzz and all (well, not all!)
Think bunny needs a bow? Couldn't decide! Needleittleinput.

If you are not stitching these blocks, you are missing alot of fun! Check my sidebar for the location and start downloading them ASAP. Then go to the Flickr A Tisket, A Tasket BOM group site and look at all the wonderful blocks that are the result of this FREE BOM

FINALLY FINISHED!!

I finally finished Cullen's quilt. I opted for no borders as I don't want it to get too big for him to drag around. I will take it to my quilter tomorrow.
Also got my March Bunny Hill BOM ready to embroider. Fairly productive day today. No big thing, but something is something. (Now wasn't that profound! LOL) These are so much fun. Sometimes I am so so unsure that they will look good in the end--I mean after embroidery. The embroidery is what makes them bloom, but then the fabrics are the foundation and is very very important. HA--that's ever MORE profound. I am going to bed. This is ridiculous---
Good Night Sweethearts~~
Since I posted a before, we will be able to critique the before and after pics. That will be fun!

FREE VINTAGE EMBROIDERY PATTERNS

UPDATE!! I found the Valdani thread that I have been using. I bought mine at a quilt shop basically because I loved the varigated coloring. The colors that I love are Vintage Hues colors in a size 10. These colors are represented by a letter P. It is three strand thread on a spool. Go here to see this particular thread.

I have discovered the sharing of retired embroidery designs. Enthusiests are collecting and sharing the designs that are retired/non copyrighted designs. I am giving you several blogs where you can find/save/print all kinds of designs. Other information is also given. From which designs it is OK to share to how to share them.
The Pattern Bee
Needlecrafter
Guaya
Threadful Art
Vintage Transfer Finds

The Sewing Palette

is a very information packed site. Be sure to visit it especially if you have patterns that you can share with them to help "fill in the gaps" of their History of Vintage patterns.

I am sharing a Superior Pattern #142 of some darling cross stitch kittens at play. I scanned them in from the in tact pattern sheet, so you may see a small amount of the adjoining design on the page. Please disregard this area when transfering this pattern.

Hopefully you can click on these photos, which enlarges them and then you can save or print them.

These designs are reversed and perfect for using a transfer pen. If you need these patterns right side up as you need them for use with a lightbox, take these patterns to your Photo program and flip them before printing them out.

I have more designs to share, so check back periodically to check. Thanks for visiting my blog.
I LOVE my followers. Thanks for all your visits and comments. I love hearing from you.
