It's been a month since my last post. I was so going to try to post more often. I think I need to schedule posts. I am sure that is how everyone keeps their promises to themselves and their readers. I have been so busy with end of school activities and birthdays (3 in May) and other issues that I'd rather not think about. You know the ones that are not so pleasant.&Molly Mandeville Fryerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13480880234069720156noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236986087542200203.post-21243526704105762502018-04-21T15:33:00.002-05:002018-04-21T15:33:28.230-05:00BLOGGING IN MY MIND DOES NOTHING FOR YOU!
HEY AGAIN, GUYS!!!
I've been blogging in my mind for weeks. I know this does nothing for YOU, but hopefully it will be somewhat worth the wait. I'm working daily to make progress on my challenge blocks. Also working nightly to make progress on my hexies project. My third commitment for this year is a quilt by Art to Heart called Be Attitudes. I won't show you my Molly Mandeville Fryerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13480880234069720156noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236986087542200203.post-13159356472831977932018-03-13T21:28:00.001-05:002018-04-21T15:41:15.789-05:00Loving the Process!
I told you all about 52 week Quilt Block Challenges that got me excited about making blocks HERE. I am still "LOVING THE PROCESS"! I almost always go "scrappy" with any quilt, but this time I decided to make my Glying Geese blocks scrappy but stay in the same color range within the block. Pieces as small as 2 inches can be worked into a block! It's awesome. I have Molly Mandeville Fryerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13480880234069720156noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236986087542200203.post-87270364496826201652018-03-05T17:08:00.000-06:002018-03-05T17:29:36.212-06:00GRANDMOTHER'S FLOWER GARDEN (Hexies revisited)
My sweet blogging friends! have we had some weather in Texas this winter. Some of the coldest and wettest I've experienced. But today has been very pleasant, in the upper 60's and sunny! I love sunny days. I am appreciating the sun more right now because for about 3 weeks, we have not seen any--only rainy and wet, wet, wet!
This leads me to today's post topic~~~~~~Molly Mandeville Fryerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13480880234069720156noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236986087542200203.post-8365051163803283462018-02-17T17:25:00.001-06:002018-02-17T17:25:44.067-06:00A Challenge is Always a Good Thing!!
The new year has brought much renewed quilting enthusiasm. Projects started and laid away have been picked back up with the desire to "finish". I don't want to leave this world with many ufps (unfinished projects). I am hoping that I can also use my blog to report as I make progress. Maybe there will be something here of interest to you that will bring you back. In my previous post I had finished my first finish for the year 2018, all except hand stitching the wrap around binding down. It is now completely finished and I could not be more excited. For the past few years I have been helping my husband, referred to here, affectionately, as Pops because that is what our grandchildren call him fight cancer. He is in remission now, but Molly Mandeville Fryerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13480880234069720156noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236986087542200203.post-47577636290629545952018-02-01T21:37:00.000-06:002018-02-02T09:00:40.684-06:00FIRST FINISH OF THE YEAR! (But it's not finished!)I had some time yesterday to get my first finish of the year but fell short of hand stitching the binding down. This small quilt wall handing has been pieced for over a year and a half but I have procrastinated because I am afraid of failure. The quilting is something that I have not had much experience with. This is about to change. I decided to try mock hand quilting on Molly Mandeville Fryerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13480880234069720156noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236986087542200203.post-36588779155707500922017-11-30T14:28:00.000-06:002017-12-01T10:33:22.108-06:00STITCHERY JOURNEY, PART 4
Now that the basic stitchery book is finished, the fun part begins. The inside should contain all the necessities that a stitcher needs to accomplish her stitching tasks. It's fun to think about all possible ways to gain this very thing. For this one, I chose a pincushion, a thimble holder, ribbon to attach your scissor, and a wool folder to hold needles (with no "ouch" factor)Molly Mandeville Fryerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13480880234069720156noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236986087542200203.post-42000187051436772112017-11-06T21:43:00.000-06:002017-11-06T21:43:07.986-06:00STITCHERY JOURNEY, PART 3
Sometimes, the artistic side of me is so slow. Seems I just think about it so much more that I do it--
But the thinking part is the part that makes me put myself into a project I guess. I come from a long line of seamstresses/quilters. I know it's a God given talent. It's a yearning to make my life and my family's life something special. It's more than Molly Mandeville Fryerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13480880234069720156noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236986087542200203.post-33261313330385695652017-10-15T13:20:00.001-05:002017-10-15T13:20:05.983-05:00 Stitchery Journey, Part 2Oh my--I am so sorry! I never intended to be two weeks between posts but life does get in my way. I am not sure at this moment that I am ready to post "Part 2" but thinking I might make it happen. Steps of construction are very important. When I don't have a pattern before me, I can easily get ahead of myself and be sorry as I must unsew. The day is here! Pattern design is a process that turns an idea into a real tangible, in my hands, something. My Stitchery ideas hardly ever turn out the same as my original thought. Most of the time, BETTER!
Today we start with my choice ofMolly Mandeville Fryerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13480880234069720156noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236986087542200203.post-67321049726439548292017-09-17T16:06:00.000-05:002017-09-17T22:40:50.578-05:00Evolution Made ManifestLife, with it's twists and turns has stopped me from my best intentions toward my blogging buddies. Pops has to have another surgery. This time, hopefully, the last. The metal plate that was placed to hold his new jaw bone in position (after cancer removal) has done it's job and will now be removed. CAUTION!! Reading this post has the potential to cause a complete addiction to vintage laces and tattings! You could begin to find yourself constantly searching for them and even dreamily daydreaming about them!
I am blessed with an abundance of vintage lace that belonged to my husbands great grandmother. It was made late 1800's-early 1900's. Just like a good book that turns out to be one that you can't put it down--so it was with the latest project-- You never know at the beginning--but this one just kept getting better. Ideas kept popping into my head and it kept evolving into so much more than I had first envisioned. I introduced you guys to Jenny at Elefantz. I'm Old!Yep! It's true! I'm old enough to have actually stitched vintage embroidery. Makes me cringe and then I remember that I'm still alive! ~smile~
I've been stitching as long as I can remember! Yes, I can still remember! LOL This is the latest of the old. The pattern was a gift from a friend and thinking I stitched it about 15 years ago. It's a fun pattern Molly Mandeville Fryerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13480880234069720156noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8236986087542200203.post-41725189203134542402017-06-21T11:01:00.001-05:002017-07-07T18:36:31.342-05:00

It's a big ole deal! The whole family gets involved. A time for raising money for kids futures by raising animals that show and sell. My life turned upside down a few years ago and my priorities changed drastically to say the least. Alot has happened in my life that I won't bore you with, but the trials of life are not as fun at stiching and quilting. But as my mother use to say "piece your trials and quilt your joys". We have many loading days on Fryer Ranch, but this day is special as oldest GS, Caden got to help today. A day off from school gives him the opportunity to strut his stuff (so to speak). He called Pops last night several times to make sure that he understood that he wanted to be picked up "early". I have often thought that I enjoy collecting designs more that I enjoy the act of embroidery. I have done some with some success, but some fabrics and specific placement have been the elusive butterfly that "gets my goat". This week I decided to "try again" to embroidery on baby knit as a shower is fast approaching. My Molly Mandeville Fryerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13480880234069720156noreply@blogger.com5
