Workin on a Cruisin Shirt

A member of my quilting group, "The Wacky Pac" , suggested we dress "loudly" for our upcoming cruise. We already have hats and today I attemped to decorate a shirt to go with it. We intend to take the ship by storm (no pun intended). As one member put it--We will never see these people again. LOL

I GATHERED MY SUPPLIES--

I decided to start with a paperdoll figure of me for the bottom of the shirt. Here goes!!!!
A collar in a same fabric, a monogramed pocket, The new "Wacky Pac" emblem and some quilt blocks on the back and WA-LA!
"Wackies on the Move" will be embroidered under the emblem.------

"Wacky Pac Quilters" will be on the top back yoke---------(I think I need two more quilt blocks at the bottom--
I am not finished yet. I have to stitch every thing down and deal with the sleeves. I am thinking colored tabs with buttons as my fabric is limited. I will then add more embelishment. Possibly this button trim. Possibly the pink fluffy trim at the top. I am definatly out of my box with these colors. Did you hear that Wackies? OUTOFMYBOX! I will post the finished product at a later date. See ya!

"Ole Bag" blox--I finished 2

A couple of blocks made from "The Ole Bag Swap Bag". I have Rhonda's bag and it is BIG. There are some cool fabrics in it. I had to provide a larger bag as when I took all the scraps out, used some, I still could not get them all back in the bag. I love these little 6 inch blocks. They will be added to my Thimbleberry quilt blox collection. I have been collecting/making these blocks for quite some time. You can see the rest in a previous post. These 6 inch blox are so much fun to make. I have been making 2 1/2 inch components and then just putting them together to make different blocks. I hope I have time to make more from this bag before my time is up, but I have to get to workin on the Round Robin that I have been putting off. Thanks for looking!

365 Day Quilt

Just a report on my 365 Day Quilt that I started about a month ago. The idea is from a fellow blogger, very talented quilter/designer, Leanne. Go to http://www.leanneshouse.typepad.com/ to find out all about it.

I started on my 52nd birthday. I am thinking what a wonderful legacy to leave my family. I would love to have a quilt documenting a year in my grandmother or great-grandmother's life. I have been struggling with what to journal as day to day activities seem trivial some days. Go to work, come home, watch tv, handwork, cook supper etc. So, I am including some history in each day. What my dad said about something, or what my mother quoted on some subject. What I remember about grandparents or great grandparents. I think this might be more informative and interesting. Also I may not report EVERY day. I think I will not be able to spend time doing this every day so a day missed will not be a catastrophe. Also, I will iron an entire strip to the freezer, journal on it, and then cut it afterwards and then I will have the appropriate length needed for that particular day. Strips of antique tatting or piece work etc. will be placed between the days to add interest. I have all my supplies in a Moda tin box. So hany even to take with me if I want to.

Thanks for visiting. See you next time.

Wacky Pac Emblem

Our Wacky Pac emblem is ready and waiting to be placed on clothing, luggage, possibly even the door of our Cruise cabin--YES--this is a reality. I have tried several colors and this is one that I like so far. I think I will try black outline for the heart. What do you think? I want to get one that I really like and then put it everywhere! A local T-shirt busness is working on a T-shirt and putting lettering on it. I will post a picture when I get it. Didn't Rhonda and Annale do a great job? They are such troopers. Thanks so much!
"Wacky Pac Quilters" are about to storm the Carribbean (Oh, I didn't mean to use that word, "storm") Until next time!

YOU"RE KIDDING! WE'RE GOING ON A CRUISE?

A magazine ad has evolved into the real thing. The Wackies are going on a QUILTING CRUISE! We have talked of this many, many times. We all want to go---will it ever happen? We NEED to be able to leave from Galveston, as it will cost more if we have to fly to get to the place of departure. There it was, right in front of me, in McCalls Quilting Magazine. I told one other Wacky and she was not real supportive of the idea saying she did not think she had enough vacation from work to go. I let the idea leave my mind AFTER I called the sponsoring quilt shop for the details.
The next morning as I checked my email, I saw a message from our longest distance member, Charlotte, about a CRUISE! Yes, she had called about information the day before also. I responded, then there were 2 interested. Rhonda called me at work. "I want to go. If we are going to ever get to go, we should do it now." she said. I told her ,"We are not getting any younger and I would go and if she and I were the only ones, we would just DOIT. She SCREAMED in my ear. I told her it was OK, I could use the other one. Charlotte and a non-Wackie friend are interested. Rhonda called later saying that Charlotte and Patty were going. Then there were definatly four.
The following Monday: A quilting day at Annale's house. I did not get to go as our air-conditioner went out and I was waiting for the repair man. I did go for lunch with the group of 5 other Wackies. I relayed the message to them that I had had a message from Kathy E and she had decided to take the plunge and go. "It is on my list of things to do". She was excited and made me more excited. Now-5. We discussed the details and Annale, although having had a bad experience on a cruise related to weather, decided that she could not take a chance on missing anything----then there were six. Kathleen, another Wackie on the fence, says she would love to go, but is Claustrophobic. She is afraid that she will get out in the ocean and not be able to stand it. Never had that experience, but afraid. We convinced her that 99% of the things you are afraid of never happen. Now there are 7.
The next day, Rhonda is on the phone with the travel agent. Several calls and our calling each other back and forth a million times and it was finally done. Jerri was the last to commit, her first excuse being that she "might get lost on the ship". Hell, we ALL "might" get lost on the friggin ship! We will hold hands--and now there are 8. YES ---8! We could not be more excited! We are all like a bunch a little school girls going to camp. We are planning and I don't think the actual cruise could be any better than the anticipation. We leave the end of February and will be in the gulf for 7 days! Two to a room with an ocean view and a balcony. We're in hock up to our necks and loving every minute of it.
If you are going--I guess we will meet you there!

Clint and Kristan love to Fish!

After the rain, the fishing was really good. My oldest son and DDIL went fishing in the South field tank and were very successful. They had a ball. Caden (4 year old grandson) fished too but had gotten tired and gone home by the time the picture was taken. He love it all. Caught several with the help of his mom and dad. One big fish broke several lines. They never got him to shore. Great "fishin" day.

It opened Completely! What A Beauty!

The unknown flower opened completely and I had to show you. I still don't know the name of it, but I hope I do soon.
