A Beautiful, Beautiful Day

I want you all to know that this little cow multiplies fast. I have to download and then click "done" fast before another little cow is born. I guess if you didn't click "done" it would just multiply forever. I decided to try to do it over as the other post goes on into infinity. Only one cow to take care of now and we can't go to Padukah or Nashville, or Sisters. One cow will not make us enough money. Oh well, maybe we will get there someday. The day has been so beautiful--I have been outside working in my yard. I keep coming in to see if anyone has posted anything--crazy, huh. I am planting flowers and shrubs and playing with my bulldogs. I would love to swap plants with anyone who wants to.
Clark is gone to Houston to be in a wedding and I am dog sitting. Caden will be here tomorrow. We will practise hunting eggs and I plan to take him to the museum in Teague to see the train. He has two cows names "One" and "Two". He has other cows, but these are his favorites. He loves numbers, you know.
I keep thinking that I will go in the sewing room and work on my Round Robin Quilt for awhile, but the sunshine is just so wonderful. I hope all you Wackies and out in it getting a tan (not you Rhonda, you just get vitamin C.)

Trip to Round-top

Everyone in Texas must go to Round-Top Texas the first weekend in April. They screwed up the dates this year and still the people found them. My sister and I have not made a trip like this in years. She can't pull me away from my "other" sisters. We stayed in an old Victorian home called Knittle Homestead (pronounced K-nittle, K being the sound of the letter). Built in the 1870's as a post office and genreal store and later added onto and becoming a home. The couple who own/operate the property have an antique store and have moved another historic home onto the property to make more rooms available for rent. Each room has it's own personality and decor. The breakfasts were served on beautiful china and on the first morning consisted of poached egg with spinach, tiny homemade cinnamon rolls, fruit cup, bacon, sausage, and potatoes that were carmelized with peppers and onions. The second morning, we were awakened by the smells of sausage, bacon, pecan french toast, and scrambled eggs with mushrooms. It is needless to say, if it hadn't been for walking ALL day, and not eating again that day, I would not have lost .8 of a pound! Hey, that is better than gaining. We bought some plants and "yard art". I also found a table/cabinet to use in my kitchen as an island. It is tall enough to work on standing up, has 3 drawers that I can use for utensils, and ends that extend enough so that I can mount some hooks and hang pots from them. Sid told me not to bring home "abunchojunk" so I tried to be good. Not one piece of fabric passed these hands for 3 whole days. They ached for the feel and texture of fffffaabbbrrriicc aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh It's good to be home.

IT'S A F------LYING CHICKEN! (OR FRYER)

This is one block from my "Flying Chicken" quilt. It is a combination of two swaps. A chicken block swap done in a Brown Box exchange with members of the Freestone Quilt Guild and a Flying Geese Internet swap. You can see the whole quilt in my album on Picasa. This block specifically was posted in an attempt, an attempt, mind you to make it my icon for my profile in lue of my photograph. Alas, after much time spent, it still is not in place. This particular block is special to me as my dear "crazy" friend, KE, made it for me. ISN'T IT CUTE! I love it. As I view other quilters blogs, I notice that some chose to use icons in their profile and when they post comments their icons show up beside their name. I don't know why it is not working. The directions in help say to post the picture in your blog, change to edit html, copy the address and past in the profile where the photo line is. I tried everything I knew to make it work and it just will not. So, if anyone has any ideas please let me know. There are two addresses listed in the Html and I tried them both. I did have fun on my trip to Round-Top with my sister. I will post about that next.
REVOLTING DEVELOPMENT--When I edited the post, the photo disappeared--where did it go? I had another one in a draft from working on my profile so I just published it until I can get home and upload another one in the right place! OOOOOOOOOHHHH MMMMMMMeeeeeeeee

My First and Only Grandson

This is just a sampling of what life is like with Caden. He is the sweetest, most considerate, loving child you will ever know, BUT, there is a side of him that you ever so often come across. This is for you, My Wacky Sisters. Hope you like it! Yes you like it? (inside joke).

Where Do I Get This Yearning?

My love for quilts and quilting comes from both sides of my family, but especially my paternal grandmother. She not only quilted, but crocheted, knitted, and crafted. My maternal grandmother quilted a little but in her later years with not much success. My Great Grandmother Lamberth was a good quilter. I own one quilt of hers, an improved 9 patch of the 1930s. My mother pieced one quilt as a teenager, but began diligently quilting in the 1970s when the quilting revolution began. She watched Georgia Bonesteel on television. She made scrap quilts so she could use up what she had. It was not in her to buy fabric for a quilt. After she had made several very successful quilts, she ask me one day (I was 18) if I thought it would do for her to "buy" fabric for a quilt. I said, "I certainly do. Especially if the quilt is going to be a pretty as these." She bought the fabric for a quilt and it is beautiful. When my dad died in 1998, my mother never quilted again. She has Alzeimers and now cannot remember that she ever quilted at all. A sad story, it's true, but makes me more determined to keep enjoying this thing I enjoy for as long as I can. But more than that, to keep my friendships going as long as I can. True frieinds are hard to come by and I have 9, NINE, Wonderful Wacky Friends.
