LADIES!!! (and gentlemen) Remember...a layer of dust protects the Wood beneath it. 'A housebecomes a home when you can write 'I love you' on the furniture.' I used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure things were just perfect - 'in case someone came over' Finally I realized one day that no one came over; they were all out living life and having fun! NOW,when people visit, I don't have to explain the 'condition' of my home They are more interested in hearing about the things I've been doing while I was away living life and having fun. If you haven't figured this out yet, please heed this advice.
Life is short. Enjoy it! Dust if you must ....... but wouldn't it be better to
paint a picture or
write a letter,
bake cookies or a cake and lick the spoon or
plant a seed, or
wouldn't it be worth while for us to ponder the difference between want and need?
Dust if you must, but there's not much time . . . . with desserts to eat,
rivers to swim and
mountains to climb,
music to hear and
books to read,
friends to cherish and

life to lead. -------------------Dust if you must, but the world's out there with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair, a flutter of snow, a shower of rain.

This day will not come around, again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind, old age will come and it's not kind. . And when you go - and go you must - you, yourself will make more dust!

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.

You and my Mom will get along great on your trip to Hawaii. This was always her philosophy. We cleaned when the house became unhealthy - but with 3 boys (4 including my Dad) that could take a while!

I have this same philosophy...and feel badly for my house-cleaning freak friends. I think they are missing things but they say they can't relax if their house isn't picture-perfect. *sigh* Thanks for this great post! My house is clean enough that nobody will get sick, but it's also messy enough that it's not going to be in any "House Beautiful" magazine!!! LOL

I love that Molly. I used to try and keep the house orderly thinking that people may come over. I didn't want them to think I was messy. But the truth is, I have 3 small children, 10yo, 7yo, and 5yo, and they play in every room. So most times, it's not the best kept house. But I have a happy home with children laughing and playing every day, and me, I get to play on my sewing machine. And I don't feel a bit of guilt about the mess around the house. We get to it in time. Shoot, on the rare occasion we do have a vistior come by, I tell them to just move the toys and fabric to the side and make themselves at home.
~Tootles for now!
