Welcome to My Home--Won't you Come In?

My Favorite Christmas Book--TEXAS Night Before Christmas by James Rice.

Twas the night before Christmas

in the cold wintry fog.

Nary a critter was movin',

nor a lone prairie dog.

MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL. I love to ready my home for the holidays and when trying to find a blog topic, I definately did NOT have a quilty topic, so I decided to show you my home decorated in red and green. My family of ten will join my DH and I for a noon meal and my mother, sister and b-i-l will be spending the night on Christmas Eve. We will eat, drink and play games or watch a movie. Cooking will start early on Christmas morning where the traditional Turkey and dressing will be served along with ham, green beans, cheese rolls and potator casserole. Pies are Pumpkin, Pecan, Apple Crumb, and Chess. Cookies of all kinds, and a decorated cake will cause all to not only go into sugar arrest, but will cause our butts to bloom.

My western Santa welcomes visitors on the sideboard. Santa's compass is there and a kiss for everyone. Won't you have one---NO CALORIES, I promise. The doily is one made by my DH's Great Grandmother and is holly and berries. Probably made circa 1890. The saddle bag and rifle holster were used by his Great Grandfather as he rode his horse on the ranch in it's early years.

The family room--How do you like our boot stockings?

The Breakfast area.

Won't you have a cup of coffee and a cookie? I just made them!A stocking from the 70s made by my Grandmother. Granny squares were "the thing".

The stocking will welcome our guests to their bunkhouse style sleeping quarters. Three beds in a row where warmth will be provided by my mother's and my quilts.

My mother also made this Santa in the 1980's out of an old quilt. She actually made one for just about everyone in the family.

Just HHHAAADDD to give you a close up of my Christmas Quilt. It is made of orphan blocks.
A place to hang coats and other clothing in the Bunkhouse room. A couple of stockings provided just in case Santa pops in.

The guest bathroom is typical Texas style. I love our copper sink with emblosed stars. I did not take a picture, but there is jet-tub/shower with a leather look shower curtain. Plenty of towels placed in old refrigerator drawers

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

A Blog Christmas Card to all you great gals who visit my blog. I am amazed at the number that visit. I don't hear from many, but wanted all to know that I appreciate your visits and hope you have a Very Very Merry Christmas. This is our only grandson, Caden, who is almost 5. He was a ham the particular day of my photo shoot. On any other day he would have balked on wearing the "Santa Hat"----BUT DOESN'T HE LOOK CUTE?
Sorry I haven't posted anything "Quilty" lately, but not much quiltin going on right now. Too busy trying to find the perfect gifts. I did get my hands on a Wii. If you don't know what that is then you are better off, believe me. I promise to get back to quilting right after Christmas and I will post "something". I have one more Round Robin Quilt to finish before the first week in January. I am close to being finished, but will probably have to work hard the week "after" Christmas. I hope you all stay safe, warm, and relaxed this Christmas. I hope you enjoy every aspect of the holiday. I hope you bake and decorate cookies with your children and grandchildren. I hope you sing carols and decorate the family tree. I hope you visit your friends and leave secret gifts to those who mean so much to you through the year. I hope you embrace the true meaning of Christmas and give to those who need it the most.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, YALL--HOPE IT IS TEXAS SIZE!!

JUST GIVE ME SOMETHING TO BLOG ABOUT!

Where do I start? So many "happenings" that I have not blogged in a while. Christmas shopping on Thursday was very successful, but just after I turned onto our County Road, I turned to look towards my DS and DDIL's house and then turned to look back toward the road just as I hit a horse. I had no time to hit a brake or turn my wheel. Seems my DIL's horse was out and stepped from behind a large hedge into the road. My grill guard kept him from coming into my windshield and kept my airbags from deploying. I am fine, but I cannot say the same for my car. The adjuster will be here this week. It killed the horse. Though tramatic for my son's family, it could have been so much worse.

It was a cold and rainy day today. I had to take and put up my DGS from preschool, but other than that, I stayed in and got some things done. House cleaning, cooking and "some" quilting. I am working on my last Round Robin Quilt. I wish I could post a picture, but I never know who might be lurking here. We will reveal the results in January and I will be posting photos afterwards. I also have my applique project in tow and my "OLD BAG SWAP" quilt.

Our Wacky Christmas Party was the 10th (yesterday). WE had such a good time. Annale was the perfect hostess, as usual. We talked, laughed, ate, and played a few games. It was 70 something degrees when we arrived, about 2 pm, and 40ish when we left about 5:30. How is that for some "Texas" weather. You know, if you don't like it, just "wait awhile". Has been cold and rainy since, but will be back to 70's tomorrow--don't you wish you lived here?

Tonight, when I turned on my Christmas Tree lights, Not one came on. Ballasts must be out. My tree is prelit and this is the third year I have used it. Back to WalMart. My DGS told me we needed outdoor lights. Don't usually put them up as we live in the country and no one sees them, but he and I will see them (he said). No picture to post, but they look pretty good!

Merry Christmas to all! (I don't work for the Post Office)
