A BITTER SWEET MESSAGE OF LOVE

I recieved this email this morning and couldn't resist sharing it with you"

My girlfriend made this quilt from a pattern published in the Quilt Almanac several years ago - she became ill in 2007 and died of ovarian cancer in September of 2008. This quilt was her favorite and she cuddled uunder it all the time she went through chemo and while recuperating from her surgeries. I would like to make this quilt as a memory keepsake but cannot find the pattern for purchase or use anywhere. Can you please direct me to a source to buy this pattern?

Thank you for your help.

The quilt she is referring to is one I made in 2005.  It was published in Quilt Almanac Magazine in 2005.  I never published the quilt pattern myself and everytime I hear from someone about it, I know that I should have.  This quilt evolved from a Drunkards path center.  I made the center section using a new method, an easy method, to make Drunkards Path blocks.  After that I just started making rounds and it all just came together.  It is so wonderful when this happens and it all works for you.

Of course having it published was also a wonderful experience.  Seeing my work in print just made my head swell up!! LOL  I had several quilts published during about a years time and I quit submitting them.  I don't know why.

Here is the page and pic in print.  I was so excited about it, but it equally excites me to know that someone loved my quilt enough to want to make it.  And now I know of someone who was comforted in some way by it.  It is a wonderful feeling.  Thanks so much to the lady who loves her friend so much and wants to keep a memory alive so much that she wants to remake the quilt.  I know she will get it done.  I will make sure she gets the pattern.

SHE'S MAKING MY QUILT!!!

Quilter Kathy eed me this morning to give me a "HEADS UP". Seems The Quilt Rat has a new project and the reason it might be very interesting to me is IT'S MY QUILT THAT SHE IS MAKING!!!

Seriously--in 2005, my "Down the Garden Path" quilt was featured in Quilt Almanac magazine. I was thrilled! I had several other quilts published, but this one is the one I am most proud of.

Jill is making my quilt for her sister out of her sister's husbands shirts. Seems she lost him to cancer and this is a "love quilt". Jill is making her quilt completely from the heart not only using his shirts, but such symbolism as using a rose background for the applique border because her sister's name is Rose. Also other fabrics in the quilt depict her husbands loves and hobbies. You simply MUST go over and take a look at her work.

Thanks you so much, Jill, for chosing my pattern you make such a special and loving work of art for your sister.
