The County Fair is Over! ♥️

It's a big ole deal! The whole family gets involved. A time for raising money for kids futures by raising animals that show and sell. A week with friends-camping together and seeing folks you haven't seen in at least a year, maybe longer. It's over now so we can recoup. Grandson had a steer named Do-da. He got third place in his class of steers and brought $5000 in the sale on Saturday morning.

He's fourteen and has been showing steers since he was 9. His brother will begin next year. Pops raises thousands of dollars each year from merchants of our surrounding area then combines to bid on any of the animals and buying some.

Pops is also in charge of the rodeo! Has been president of the fair commission for years and loves every minute of it. I support them all as we work all week to accomplish goals and enjoy the process. I did get best of show with my fall Bunny Hill quilt.  Also gained the "Go Texan" award which means this quilt will travel to Houston, Texas for another competition.  I am honored!!   Its a combination quilt--piecework and applique, wool and cottons with embroidery throughout.  One of the most enjoyable quilts I have every made.  The other is also a Bunny Hill pattern that was free.  I scavenged yard and garage sales for wool garments.  The wings on the birds are actually made from a wool sweater.

If you haven't tried wool applique you should.  So enjoyable!!
Picked veggies in the rain this morning.  Much more enjoyable than picking in the blazing Texas sun.  We are just now beginning our hot summertime.  In the 90 degrees.  Picking is just the beginning of the work when you have a vegetable garden. But in the winter months, that work is so appreciated.
Laboring for others is what we are to do on this earth.  We are the light of the world, for others to see the Spirit of God in us.  We might be the only light of God that others ever see.  I give my life for Him because He gave His life for me.  The blessing of this life and the next come from Him.  All good and perfect gifts come from the Father.

Galatians 8:5,6  For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.  For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the spirit is life and peace.

God loves you! See you soon!  Oh yes---I finished my Heart embroidery piece. Just kept going and being surprised at how it evolved. Added a little something here and there until it looked pretty good. A good practice piece.  If I could remember how to post a link to a pattern, I would do that for any of you who might want to give this piece a try.  Let me hear from you!!

Peas, beans, peppers, tomatoes and squash! The work has just begun.
Tomorrow is our next trip to Dallas for a cat scan and doctor appointment. Pops has had cancer. He's been fighting it for over two years now. We go to Dallas every two weeks for a treatment to keep it from returning. He's had radiation, facial, mouth surgery and then chemo. We're in a good place now with 2 clean pet scans. Another one is coming soon. Each day is a gift! God takes care of us by giving us all we need in this life and more. When we come to the end of our rope, He helps us hang on! Life is tough. I can't do it without my Savior!  Wouldn't want to try and never will have to!

Tried to read this post, but, the last few words of each line are 'hidden' under the side bar stuff. Hope you father gets a clean bill of health. I'm guessing the rest.

Sorry Cheryl. I'm working on that. If you're reading from your phone turn it sideways until I get things worked out. Thanks for reporting.
