Grandmother Dora's "Improved 9-Patch" Quilt

Just time for a quick post. This Improved 9 patch was made by my great grandmother, Dora Gilliam Lamberth. I believe it could be dated circa 1920. I love the wonderful classic fabrics. The backing is flour sack prints. All different --just sewd together as they were until the backing was large enough. My grandmother made many quilts in her lifetime and I am lucky to have one. I don't know very much about her, but if she was a quilter, I know she was a great person, and I know where some of my love for quilting came from. Wouldn't you just love to have a quilty conversation with the one's who passed their quilty genes on to you---

BREN'S VALENTINE'S BIRTHDAY!

My Valentine's Days as a child were always overshadowed by my sister's birthday. She is my family's Sweetheart. There was a time when I got presents on her birthday too. Those days are long gone. I have made many a heart shaped birthday cake. She ask for a special present this year-- For no one to announce her age. No one would know how old she is by looking at her. She is my only sibling and so special to me. I love you, Bren.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAULIN!

New Applique Bag!

Well, new since Christmas. This "tool" bag is a find --found during Christmas shopping. A gift to me. It had multiply pockets to stash my applique tools, patterns, and supplies. Glue sticks here, cuticle sticks there, Patterns, board, freezer paper, and other large items for projects in the large center portion and templet plastic patterns hanging from the side. Large pockets hold scissors, and a small one holds my tiny stapler. The large side pocket holds prepared pieces. It is perfect for a take a long bag. I think it was intended for electricians, but this one is for ------ME!
