Antique Quilts from the Show were really great! I took pictures of the tags so you could see the going prices.

I had to take a pic of this Penny Quilt hanging among many more. You can click on it to view the very vintage redwork. GREAT! No tag for this one. I ask the lady for a picture and hated to ask to photo THE TAG!! LOL So I have no idea what the going price was. ENJOY!!

Round Top Antique Show Purchases

HEY COWGIRLS I promised to show you my purchases from Round Top, Texas Antique Show--I had a guy out to help me get my door in place and a shelf on my table. Yes, I bought a table to use as a kitchen island. I bought one last time we went, but this one is better !!!

Here is the door installed. My kitchen still needs so much remodeling, but I am working on it. The decisions are the hardest. The walls are the original wallpaper from over 25 years ago. It is still in perfect shape, just outdated slightly LOL. Do you have any ideas for me?

As usual LULU is im the middle of things. The tater and onion bin was made by my son while he was in highschool. One of my favorite things!


The island is very old, from China and has no nails in--all pegs. I love it because it is rustic wood and shorter than my other one. The ends are long to hand my pots and the shelf gives a place for big pots.

This a darling rain guage that my sister bought me for my birthday in May. I put it in my garden to that I cannot only measure the rain, but when I water also. Speaking of rain, it is beginning to rain right now. I love rain!! The sound-- the smell. You can almost feel the earth soaking it up. The tanks fill, the creeks begin to run, the lakes become clear and the fish jump for joy!! I can't wait to see how much it rained!!! With my new guage!!!!

I found an old washing tub pair . I wanted to use it in my potting shed to mix my potting soil. The tubs have holes in the bottom so that they drain. I want thinking that I could set the newly potted plants in the opposite side and wash them off and the with the hole the water would drain right out. and if water got in the soil, it could also drain. We looked at several and there was always a problem. The tubs were not original, the bottoms were flimsy. They Bren decided she wanted one too. To make a long story short, we both bought one and I am still going to get the pictures from her so you can see the Clampetts coming home from Round Top. It was histyrical. We stopped at a historic cemetery of Sam Houston's wife on the was home. It was in the middle of a residential district. As I was pulling over, I said to Bren--the woman in that house over there is saying to her husband, "Honey, the Clampetts are visiting the cemetery!" Well, there was no bathroom around--I have one word for you---PANTY LINERS!!! We did have so much fun. You must go with us next year!!

VINTAGE EMBROIDERY PURCHASES-A Promise Made, A Promise Kept

This is a continuation of yesterday's post. My Vintage Embroidery purchases from my trip to Round Top, Texas Antique Show.

I wish I had a picture of the booth where I made my big purchase. Remember that I was with my sister who is a non quilter. I did have her cued into looking for rick rack, but the embroidery patterns?---not so much. I found this booth that had alot of vintage sewing/quilting stuff. I spent some time going through a box of patterns, and then I casually told Bren to go ahead and look around without me as I was going to be awhile. She relented to that and left. I finally gathered my hand full of rick rack and some patterns and took them to the lady owner of the booth. As she began to add up my purchases, I casually ask her if she would just price the whole box for me. (I decided I couldn't leave them) I said that I had no idea that I could afford it, but----she commented that I might be surprised. She took a walk over to the sewing area and glanced through the patterns. Her price was $20. I took it. I got so much more than I knew I was getting. See the purchases below. I may really have some prize patterns. I have gone through them, but have not compared them to what other large collectors on line have.

A Walker's

Vintage Cars--5 patterns on one sheet with instructions included on the sheet. Anyone have an idea who made this one?

This one is by Kate Marchbanks and is a Duck Pattern. I have never heard of her, have you?

The rest are in the large collection of folded patterns. About half of them are from

Workbasket. I can tell by the way they are folded and the fact that they have staple holes from where they were stapled into the middle of the magazine.

All the instruction begins with ----"This pattern is DIFFERENT. It will give several stampings if directions are followed. Try the test design by using it printed side down on a piece of material placed on your ironing board. Cover all with tissue or paper to protect cloth."

Well girls--I will have to figure out the best way to share these patterns. Either thru my blog, a new blog, or give them to someone who specializes in posting vintage patterns to post for me. This collection is too extensive to keep a lid on. This is another day that I am tired of. More on a new day. Good Night~~~~~~~

Round Top Texas Antique Show-- April 2009

AND WE'RE OFF!

My sister, Brenda, and I took a 3 day trip to Round Top, Texas where an Antique Show is the focus not only in Round Top but surrounding towns and outline areas. Having 3 days sounds like a lot of time, but no, we had just gotten started when it was time to go home. The thing is, we ran out of funds. Man! that is always what holds me back! Here we are leaving. Out truck was empty! She took the pictures of it full when we returned. I don't have copies of those yet, but when I do, I will do an update. You won't believe it!!We stayed at the Knittle Inn Bed and Breakfast in a nearby town of Burton. We booked really early as it is very very tough to get a room during the show. I didn't take a picture of the Main house--but be sure and go their website and CHECK IT OUT! Great place to stay! We stayed at a house on the property that was moved in. It it an old farm house that was literally cut in half to be moved to it's present location. Completely redone, it is now 5 rooms for guests, each with it's own bath and a communal sitting room. The front porch is fantastic complete with rocking chairs.

This is Washington House. It gives new meaning to "We'll leave the light on for ya".

This pillow is made of vintage needlework and hankies.

Great TUB!!

I thought it was very creative to use an old door and a short rod to make a closet area for guests.

This collage of vintage laces, trims, needlework, postcards, and ribbons is in the hallway.

This is the walk to the Main house that we took for breakfast. You can see Washington House in the background and their Antique Shop on the right.

Carmen and Steve set a beautiful table and the breakfast was different on two days. Egg casserole, bacon, sausage, tiny cinnamon rolls, fruit cups. It was really great and served at

8:30 am.

We found this darling see-saw made with tractor seats and painted in John Deere colors. Bren just had to try it out and we commented that kids don't play on them anymore--

The Sandwich Shoppe where we ate on the first day there made a great tuna salad, but the bathroom was what I liked. Look at this sink area. The handle in front turned on the water and it came out the the antique water pump. I love this. Too cool!

The famous Royer Cafe--Round Top version. We did not eat there as an entree is around 30-35 bucks. Needed it for "stuff". Also you had to have a reservation. They are also known for their pies. They looked so good. They also sold them on the street by the piece. I should have taken a picture--sorry-Here is their menu! And What will you have today, Madam----

I bought this TEXAS door from a girl from NORTH CAROLINA! Crazy stuff, I know. But I loved it. I could not leave it there. Now you know where most of my money went.

I took a few pictures of booths. This one was of a place where you could be outfitted in lacy, gauzy early American type wear. The girls looked so so cute. You all may know all about this, but I didn't.

This booth was nothing but early Carnival wares. Cute stuff and brought back so many memories.

Of Course, we had to stop and browse at every plant place. Bren is a plant lover. I am too, but she more.

On the way home I took a couple pictures of the ultimate plants. Wildflowers, so beautiful.

The Texas Blue Bonnets were just gorgeous. The picture does not do them justice.

I hope you enjoyed posting #1 of our trip. I still haven't shown you the quilts or my other purchases. Yes, I found vintage rick rack and embroidery patterns. I can't wait to show you. But for now, tomorrow is another day. I am tired of this one. See you tomorrow. You must think about going with us next year. It was a blast! Hey, the upstairs room at Washington House has more beds and they are singles. Maybe not enough for ALL of you, but we could lay out some pallets! LOL
